Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre introduces COVID-19 Manufacturer Response Register

The Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) has introduced a portal for Australian manufacturing, component suppliers and skilled design, engineering and manufacturing staff to register their interest and core competencies in support of the national response to COVID-19.

The response of Australian businesses and individuals to the current COVID-19 pandemic to-date has been outstanding, with manufacturers shifting focus to how they can support our health and critical manufacturing sectors during this unprecedented event.

Australian manufacturers across multiple disciplines have already pivoted, or expressed a desire to support in any way possible actions to address the current COVID-19 threat. Examples include distillers moving to produce hand-sanitisers, automotive manufacturers exploring the design and manufacturer of ventilators, fabricators moving to supply of medical goods, or current manufacturers responding to increased demand for goods.

Dr. Jens Goennemann, Managing Director of AMGC, said “Australian manufacturers want to assist, however they may be unsure of where to start. By developing this portal, we will be able to gain a clear understanding of the skills, supplies and capabilities that exist right now, and potentially connect them with the right government department or manufacturer,”

“Manufacturers are already putting their hand up saying ‘I could supply goods to support COVID-19 efforts, but I have some gaps in equipment, knowledge or processes’ – in some instances we’ve been able to assist in these linkages via AMGC’s expansive network,”

“The Australian manufacturing sector has a significant role to play as we navigate our way through this challenging time, and an equally important role in Australia’s recovery. Together, as a nation, we will emerge from this resilient, stronger, and more self-sufficient than ever before.” Said Dr. Goennemann.

The COVID-19 Manufacturer Response Register portal is live now via the AMGC website, with all contact treated in strict confidence.

Beyond the new registration portal, AMGC has also increased its support of Australian manufacturers and will be boosting its online Manufacturing Academy learning portal, providing bespoke online webinars, while current State and Federal Government tenders and Expressions of Interest will be broadcast via the organisation’s website and social media platforms.

AMGC’s current pipline of manufacturing industry projects and programs continues to progress, with further information available here.
