A message from Jens Goennemann

AMGC’s Australian Manufacturing Matters Roadshow is hitting its sixth city with our next event in Darwin on 18 March – and if you’re around, we’d love to meet you there. So far, we have engaged with manufacturers in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Sydney.

I am enthusiastic about any type of AMGC event across Australia because this is where you as a manufacturing business get an opportunity to use your voice, raise your concerns, share your ideas, and be a part of the change to lift manufacturing capability in Australia.

Here’s an example: Recently, we were joined by The Hon Courtney Houssos MLC, Minister for Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement for New South Wales. This was a unique opportunity for our Manufacturing Council members to directly interact with the state government to discuss challenges and voice opportunities on how to better leverage government procurement.

AMGC Manufacturing Council Member, Kristi Riordan from Harvest B was in the room, and this is what she posted regarding the meeting:

“Practical immediate steps discussed included how to leverage government procurement and local content requirements. As a member of industry, we look forward to participating in further discussions about the long term policies required for new local industries to take hold and be globally competitive, which will in line create both new and higher paying jobs for Australians.”

At our recent Manufacturing Matters Roadshow event in Sydney, we were joined by Dr Andrew Charlton MP, Federal Member for Parramatta. Andrew succinctly shared his thoughts on how manufacturing continues to shape Parramatta’s broader region and industries.

As always, my team and I are committed to working with Governments at all levels, we are engaging in conversations and forging partnerships with state jurisdictions to continue to grow the link between them and Industry.

Together we are stronger. Our voice becomes more noticeable. If you haven’t become an AMGC member yet, what are you waiting for?
