A message from Jens Goennemann
Eight years in and AMGC continues to represent Australian manufacturers. We know the daily decisions you face to grow your business, and we understand how we can raise our country’s manufacturing capability through better cooperation among industry, with our research partners, and with our political leaders.
Which is why we have been busy engaging with our members, meeting with all levels of Government, and expanding our team – specifically in Western Australia (WA), to ensure we continue to deliver outcomes.
At a Federal level, we continue to be consulted on the important topic of a Future Made in Australia and exposing Ministers, policy makers, and departmental staff to the realities of industry by facilitating a number of manufacturer site visits – all of which help inform policy direction and decision making.
As mentioned, we continue to progress our WA Wind Energy initiative and have now appointed our new WA State Director – formal announcement to follow soon. Our new AMGC colleague will start next week and will lead the partnership with the WA Government on the Industry Support Collaboration Agreement focused on Wind Energy Supply Chain Participation.
We are looking forward to meeting again with NSW Minister for Industry and Trade, The Hon. Anoulack Chanthivong next month, and AMGC was pleased to attend the policy announcement made by him and the NSW Minister for Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement The Hon. Courtney Houssos on stronger measures to ensure better representation of Australian manufacturers in government procurement.
Meanwhile, in the Northern Territory progress continues. Recently, the $7.5 million Advanced Manufacturing Ecosystem Fund (AMEF) backed an exciting new project, led by drone company Blueflite which will deliver robotic composite tank production for hydrogen storage tanks.
We aim to continue AMEF’s important work of diversifying and lifting the capability of the Territory’s manufacturing base alongside the incoming NT Government.
We welcome the Northern Territory’s Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro and her team, and are eager to broaden AMGC’s work and measurable impact up north.
In fact, I will head to Darwin soon for the October Business Month and – as always – advocate how manufacturing can transform Australia from lucky to smart.
Stay tuned – lots happening up to year end.
