A message from Jens Goennemann

Hello and welcome to our first update for 2025.

We hope that you’ve seen a robust start to the year and trust that you are well and truly mucking in.

AMGC has hit the ground sprinting. Most recently, we were announced as the sixth and final Industry Partner Organisation (IPO) for the federal government’s Industry Growth Program (IGP).

The Department of Industry, Science and Resources expects some 2,000 startup and high-growth SME applicants a year for the program, and a portion of them will be referred to AMGC by either the department or its network of Business Advisors.

Our brief includes companies in the government’s national priority areas of transport, defence, and value-add to resources.

Our job is to help the referred companies scale to their potential based on the program’s criteria, with some of these manufacturers looking to qualify for either the IGP’s Early-Stage Commercialisation projects or Commercialisation and Growth grants (more information available here).

We will help by offering advice, and providing access to technologies, workplaces, and events, making use of our network of manufacturers, service providers, and researchers that we’ve grown over our nine years in action.

Over our organisation’s lifetime, AMGC has extolled the value of collaboration as one of the most useful bits of kit in a manufacturer’s toolbox. With this in mind, we would like to advise you to read below about a project between two of our members, Action Laser and OptoTech.

AMGC proposing a partnership between both companies has shown an outcome of collaboration in the truest sense, and in the only way it is worth recognising: two or more teams sharing in a challenging task, combining each’s complementary expertise, and acting in a way that requires trust and a degree of managed risk to accomplish something that creates tangible value for all parties involved.

Lastly, we recently held our first information session for the Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program which we have co-created with the Western Australian Government. This is another program we are very pleased to run, and which will keep us very busy during 2025.

Our sleeves are well and truly rolled up at AMGC. We hope that your year is also full of endeavours that excite you.
