Our Projects
Innovative modular furniture

Project description and overview:
This commercialisation project enables Darwin Sheet Metal and Laser Cutting (DSM) to diversify its offerings and evolve from being contract fabricators to true advanced manufacturers. DSM is looking to introduce advanced automated tube laser technology, a first for the NT, to enable larger batch production and manufacturing efficiencies of its innovative modular furniture.
DSM has designed a range of innovative flat-pack stainless steel modular furniture for kitchens, pantries, bedrooms, and laundries specifically to meet the design specifications for remote houses. To enable efficient and cost-competitive manufacturing, DSM will introduce advanced automated tube laser technology, enabling DSM to manufacture larger batches of innovative modular furniture at a cost-competitive rate. This will meet the demands and provide a faster turn-around for the production of the furniture.
This project will create local employment and upskill the current DSM team members, who will undertake training with Trumpf in operating, programming, and maintenance courses.
