4ize aims to produce and distribute affordable prescription spectacles to remote and developing communities. 4ize is a complete system of training local non-professional people to use a testing wheel which we have invented, and then distribute glasses assembled from pre-manufactured frames and spectacle lenses.
It is early days, and we are currently defining second prototypes and looking at options for tooling and manufacture for scale up to provide glasses to over 1 billion people worldwide who are visually impaired simply due to lack of access to spectacles. We hope to make this system financially sustainable by selling ready made glasses in Australia
