MicroTau prints nature’s functional surfaces by bringing scalable and economical microfabrication technology to industries including aerospace, shipping and manufacturing.
MicroTau’s Direct Contactless Microfabrication (DCM) technology prints microstructures out of Ultra-Violet (UV) curable coatings used across numerous industries in a manner that is economical, fast and scalable.
DCM has been used to print drag-reducing shark skin "riblet" microstructures demonstrating a 7% skin friction drag reduction in turbulent flow. DCM fabricated surfaces have demonstrated other effects including optical, matting and wetting properties with further functional surfaces under development. Potential uses are broad and include renewable energy, medical and manufacturing.
