Project description and overview:

The Northern Territory (NT) faces immediate demand for an advanced water monitoring and filtration solution due to communities’ contaminated drinking water with >35,000 water bores supplying 90%+ of the region’s water. Current water testing processes face barriers of infrequent testing, high costs, labor-intensive process, and accuracy compromised by long-distance sample transport. Traditional automated monitoring technologies are unsuitable for remote areas such as communities, mines and resources sites, due to frequent cleaning and calibration requirements.

This commercialisation project will develop and prove an innovative integrated solution of both water filtration and treatment with advanced continuous remote monitoring and testing technology.

Think Water is partnering with Eco Detection and Terracorp to co-develop and manufacture an advanced integrated solution to a global issue of unacceptable drinking water quality. This project integrates the technology of the Ion-Q+ water quality analyser that Eco Detection has developed and Think Water’s proven filtration systems to improve the current water testing and treatment process in an effort to solve a global problem more effectively.

The integrated filtration and water quality treatment system will be a full end-to-end solution for providing clean drinking water to remote communities while also providing assurance on the water quality through publicly available remote monitoring data. This data will be facilitated through a free monitoring app that will provide real-time feedback on water quality and alerts on any issues with the system.

This project will lead to the improved long-term health of communities due to the confidence in knowing that the water is fit to drink leading to decreased diversionary drinking and a need for bottled water. Improving the community’s health and carbon footprint.
