A message from Jens Goennemann
The countdown to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics has begun. As a nation, Australia ‘punches above its weight’ on the global stage at every Olympic Games. So, in 2020, I encourage all Australian manufacturers to have an ‘Olympic year’—to help develop a world-leading, dynamic, export-focused advanced manufacturing sector.
With ambitious goals for 2020, AMGC is here to help Australian manufacturers deliver their own Olympic performance.
Deliver an olympic performance
We have over 50 grassroots events scheduled all across Australia. These will be held across rural and city centres. Focussed on emerging trends in business, government funding and support programs, and our latest research, AMGC’s events offer insights and inspiration, and foster connectivity.
AMCG events are not one-off, attend and forget affairs. Rather, our face-to-face events are supported by the Manufacturing Academy, which is set to feature new masterclasses in 2020. Manufacturing Academy offers the equivalent of over 500 pages of in-depth research, interviews with more than 20 Australian manufacturers, and over 50 hours of video content, distilled into six inspirational, informative modules.
The insights gleaned from AMGC’s face-to-face events and in-depth digital learning platform can—and are—being scaled without limit by Australian manufacturers. Clearly, the industry is thirsty for opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
Expanding research, innovation and reach
AMGC will expand its research in 2020 with the release of reports showing, step by step, how Australian manufacturing companies can succeed. AMGC will also deliver its report on the establishment of a Pre-fab Innovative Hub—a collaborative project to help manufacturers design innovative prefabricated buildings that are more eco-friendly, affordable, and can significantly reduce construction times.
Alongside Austrade, we are set to lead a Team Australia delegation of over 20 Australian companies to Hannover Messe 2020 (#20for2020). Expecting in excess of 200,000 visitors from 100 countries and more than 30 different industries, Hannover Messe is the world’s leading industrial technology show. Hannover Messe offers amazing opportunities for Australian companies in the advanced manufacturing sector looking to grow. Companies will have the chance to promote their capabilities, learn about international markets, seek commercial relationships on a global scale, and discover new technological advances and business models, all in one place.
With all this exciting activity on the horizon, AMGC plans to accelerate its membership base. While our membership is currently sitting at 1,000, we are confident that this will reach over 2,000 by the end of 2020.
Let’s go for gold
I am extremely optimistic about 2020. I am confident that it will be a highly successful year for the wider Australian manufacturing industry and with our members I look forward to leading the charge at AMGC to make this possible.
Let’s go for gold—together!
